vermillion gnome 2.20  (vermillion 67 development) x86

The text rendering in gnome-terminal is intermittently bad - see attached screenshot
also seeing this problem on nevada 68 gnome 2.18 build on x86 (OS nv66)
Work Around 
On gnome-intersted David Clack claimed that recompiling vte and gnome-terminal removed the problem.  I havn't verified.  How can a P2 be in dispatched for 19 days?
Recompilation in this case is not valid workaround, I think.
