Solaris should provide a second "fast inline" version of headers and libraries
of string functions for user applications to us. There should be a compile time
option which allow string functions to bypass internationalization lookups if
desired. Other operating systems supply this. Some applications on Solaris
suffer a significant performance penalty compared to running other OSs due to
the localization lookups.
