Description
Current Xserver gate includes Mesa 7.0.3. This version did not have quality support the OpenGL Shading Language for Intel GMA chips and excluded a few features for OpenGL 2.1 compliance. Also, significant performance slowdown is observed in using glxgears (216-240 FPS versus 487 FPS with Linux build). Mesa 7.0.4 includes support for the Intel G31 chip and fixes a crash in the fragment shader. Update to Mesa 7.0.4 for the OSOL2008.11-b100/101 release.
Frequency
Always
Regression
No
Steps to Reproduce
1. Use the dangerdeep 0.3.0 program to test GL Shader support on Intel GMA chips from: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/dangerdeep/dangerdeep-0.3.0.tar.gz
2. Run /usr/X/demo/glxgears to observe FPS performance.
Expected Result
1. Dangerdeep 0.3.0 should work properly with OpenGL Shader features.
2. glxgears should generate a 480 FPS score comparable to similar Linux distro configs.
Actual Result
1. Dangerdeep 0.3.0 does not properly with SXCE b99 Xserver 1.3.0/Mesa 7.0.3 config.
2. glxgears shows a 216-240 FPS benchmark score in SXCE b99.
Error Message(s)
No error in executing glxgears. The issue is a performance degradation issue with glxgears using Intel GMA 865G and 965G chips.
Test Case
1. Use /usr/X/demo/glxgears which comes as a default SXCE b99 install (or OSOL2008.11-b98 Live CD install).
