Description
Unbundled accelerated graphics drivers for nVIDIA graphics cards are available for
download from nvidia.com & sun.com, as well as included on hardware supplement CD's
and pre-install images for Ultra 20 workstations.

If these drivers are installed on a system, and it is then upgraded to Solaris 10 Update 1
or Nevada, two failure modes are seen:

 - The open source "nv" drivers used by Xsun & Xorg fail to work due to conflicts with
the nvidia kernel driver installed by the accelerated driver packages. This may
cause the Xsun server started from the later phases of the installer when booted off
the hard disk to fail (i.e. to install CD's 2, 3, 4 when installing off CD's, or
to install further products after finishing the OS review).

 - Once the installation is finished, the Xorg server will fail to start since the OpenGL
modules installed by Mesa as part of the OS install are not compatible with the nvidia
driver, which expects its own OpenGL modules to be installed.

To prevent these issues, the OS installer should remove the NVDAgraphics* packages on
upgrade and users will need to reinstall after upgrade is complete. (For now, the OS
should reinstall automatically in a future update release.)
