Description
The current usb2serial support in Solaris includes a framework (usbser) and a driver (Edgeport).
Current status of device support in Solaris:
Only support Digi's Edgeport USB serial adapters. Our customers complain that Edgeport adapters are too expensive and not easily available. Another problem of Edgeport is, the f/w updates and other incompatible changes from Digi have caused major customer and engineering frustration and created a lot of extra work.
Marketing status:
There are different kinds of devices in the market now, includes Keyspan,
BELKIN, FTDI, MCT, DIGI, Prolific, etc. And usb2serial devices have big user
group which we can not neglect.

We should support popular keyspan usb2serial adapters asap.
