On some motherboards, there are CSB5's which are wired in such a manner that the busmaster ide status reg simplex bit is asserted unnecessarily. When this bit is asserted, the driver believes that the DMA engine is shared between channels, which is not the case for CSB5 chips wired this way. Because of this, the driver refues to use DMA, resulting in performance that is only a quarter of what it could be.
